Meet the artist

Ventsislava Velikova has been creating art since 2010, initially working with textiles, and threads. BG Crafts Gallery is proud to present the author's textile paintings, made in a unique style. The paintings are made of threads, which are knitted separately, one by one, on a single hook. Each element is a composition of several niches of one, or several colors, combined according to the original idea. Ventsislava works with pure cotton yarn, on linen canvas.

The idea of her works is not to bring back old ideas, nor to preserve traditions, but rather, to "restore" the beauty in them, and present them in an appropriate way to our modern everyday life, and to the eyes of the new generation. Ventsislava's works are owned by community centers, galleries and private individuals. She is the recipient of an award from the Municipality of Beloslav - "Worker of Culture" 2018, given for her contribution to the development of culture in the region. She self-published the book "A Strange Collection of Stories," as well as a series of seven books with the color of the rainbow called "Human Stories."
