Authentic icon "Archangel Gabriel"

The Archangel Gabriel is one of two archangels mentioned in the Bible, by name - the other being Michael. In the New Testament, Gabriel was sent to Zechariah to tell him about the upcoming birth to Mary, and to announce the conception of Jesus Christ in the womb, and through the Holy Spirit. His name means the power of God in Hebrew. Archangel Gabriel is often depicted on the northern gates of the iconostasis.

The icon is created using materials and paints according to the original technology for making of Orthodox icons. Gold leaf, patina, and cracking varnish were used, to make the icon look even more authentic. The icon is painted with egg tempera paint, as per the traditional technology for icon painting.
