Author icon "Christ Pantocrator" - II

Pantocrator or All-holder is the earliest and main iconographic image of Christ in the Christian East, which represents the Savior as Heavenly King and Judge. With the means of the icon painter, this was especially achieved through the characteristic asymmetry and expression of His eyes: the look of the Savior is simultaneously strict and kind, nostalgic.

This image of the Savior most fully reveals both His Divine and human nature. The image of Christ Pantokrator traditionally occupies the space of the central dome of the Orthodox church. The Savior's right hand is usually raised in blessing. In His left hand He holds a scroll or Gospel. A nimbus with a cross drawn in it forms the face of Christ, and in it or near it are the letters IC and XC, representing the Christogram ICXC (Jesus Christ).

The icon is created using materials and paints according to the original technology for making of Orthodox icons. Gold leaf, patina, and cracking varnish were used, to make the icon look even more authentic. The icon is painted with egg tempera paint, as per the traditional technology for icon painting.

This lovely work of art is signed by the artist, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
