Authentic, handmade icon "The Virgin and Child"

In the icon painting of the Christian religion, the most significant and revered are the images of the Holy Mother of God along with that of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. It is not a coincidence, that the icons of the two are placed first on the right, and on the left of the royal doors leading to the altar of the royal order of the iconostasis in the church. St. Mary was irrevocably with the son of God throughout his journey from his birth to his crucifixion. In Christian iconography, she is depicted as a loving mother, showing the path of the infant in his future life. It is by design, that in the largest Bulgarian monasteries, there are miraculous icons of the Holy Mother, in which she performs miracles, helping those seeking help and comfort, by praying before her image.

The icon is created using materials and paints according to the original technology for making of Orthodox icons. Gold leaf, patina, and cracking varnish were used, to make the icon look even more authentic. The icon is painted with egg tempera paint, as per the traditional technology for icon painting.
