Authentic icon "St. Constantine and Elena"

In 313 Constantine issued the Edict of Milan, which introduced Christianity as the official religion in Byzantium. He himself accepted the Christian faith at the end of his life. Queen Helena went on a pilgrimage to the places where Christ lived, built several monasteries and discovered the cross on which Jesus was crucified. She considered this event to be the most important in the history of the Christian church, and for this Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena were canonized as saints. Emperor Constantine was buried in a golden coffin in the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople, and the 16th century city was named after him.

The icon is created using materials and paints according to the original technology for making of Orthodox icons. Gold leaf, patina, and cracking varnish were used, to make the icon look even more authentic. The icon is painted with egg tempera paint, as per the traditional technology for icon painting.

This lovely work of art is signed by the artist, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
